Sobre emprender y lo que realmente importa

Es imposible hablar de emprendimiento sin hablar primero de amor propio.
Sí, sé que suena cliché y que probablemente te dieron ganas de cerrar esto y perder tu tiempo en otra cosa, pero lo que pasa aquí es que los clichés también tienen su razón de ser. Por algo existen y se siguen repitiendo una, y otra, y otra vez.
El punto es, más bien, cómo llegar a verlos desde una mirada realista. Cómo lograr que dejen de parecernos un simple lugar común, una frase trillada que podemos leer prácticamente en cualquier parte, y que pasen a ser algo que realmente nos haga sentido. Algo que podamos ver reflejado en nuestras propias vidas.
No quiero ser demasiado auto referente, pero no puedo hablar bien de esto sin basarme en mi propia experiencia. Sin que entiendas que yo solía ser una mujer, como tú o cualquier otra, que un día decidió dar un paso al costado y llevarle la contra a la lógica para seguir su corazón, aún sin tener idea hacia dónde se dirigía.
Creo que lo único constante en mi vida es que, desde chica, me gusta escribir. Pero muchos de esos escritos -que conservo hasta el día de hoy-, hablaban de lo mal que me sentía conmigo misma. Aún cuando tuve una infancia tremendamente feliz, durante años me sentí fea. Porque claro, el “cómo” me veía era la antítesis de lo que se “esperaba” de una niña de esa edad. Muchas veces me sentía tonta, en parte porque no me atrevía a levantar la mano en clases o porque, aunque estudiara, no se reflejaba en mis notas (y ni mencionemos matemáticas). Siempre
fui introvertida, callada -excepto cuando estaba con gente de confianza-, y a mis actuales 36 años, sigo poniéndome roja cuando tengo que hablar con gente que no conozco en alguna reunión social. Pero siempre, siempre, fui creativa, apasionada y con una idea clarísima de que, sin tener idea cómo, tenía mucho que decir. Hoy siento que, lentamente, he ido despejándole la pista a esas cualidades para que pudieran por fin aparecer. Finalmente, eso que siempre estuvo en mí, es lo
que hoy sostiene todo lo demás.
Al titularme de Periodismo me sentía incompleta. Aunque aprendí mucho, siento que mi creatividad fue limitada a un número de planas, caracteres y temáticas que me eran impuestas, y eso me hizo salir a buscar algo diferente. Así, me fui a trabajar a una radio en la que había hecho una pasantía durante mi último año y, contra todo pronóstico, pasé de ser la nueva que sólo generaba contenido, a tener mi propio programa, poco menos de un año después. De 6 a 8 de la mañana, acompañaba a mucha gente a la que, sin entender yo el porqué, le gustaba escucharme. Y claro, escondida detrás de un micrófono, sin que nadie me viera cuando me ponía roja, sentí que encajaba por primera vez. Y ahí, comenzó la búsqueda frenética de quién era.
Emprendí durante años en muchísimas cosas, algunas exitosas, otras no tanto, según los ojos con que se le mire. Me titulé de Locución y Doblaje, trabajé en eso, y más tarde, entré a estudiar Diseño Publicitario que, por razones de la vida, tuve que congelar un año después.
No te preocupes, no voy a seguir dándote la lata de cada paso que di hasta llegar a este punto de mi vida. Pero sucede que, todo lo anterior, -incluyendo las pegas estables en las que posteriormente trabajé-, influyó directamente en la percepción de mí misma. Disfrutaba de todo lo que hacía, pero “me gustaban demasiadas cosas” y “no hacía nada en serio”, según la opinión de mucha gente que me rodeaba. Opinión que, por supuesto, adopté con una profunda convicción.
Lo que viene después es, probablemente, bastante similar a la historia de muchas de ustedes. Años de sacarme la cresta por los sueños de otros y trabajos muchas veces mal remunerados porque, primero, aceptaba cualquier cosa con tal de tener un poco de flexibilidad horaria para estar con mis hijos y, segundo, no tenía idea de lo que era realmente capaz de hacer. Aún así, disfruté la mayoría y conocí a personas increíbles. En otras, sigo sin entender cómo permití tantas faltas de respeto, cómo no fui capaz de tratarme con más cariño. Pero no estaba lista aún para verlo.
La cuenta @daniconlapiz ya existía desde hacía poco más de un año, cuando me llamaron de la librería en donde me ofrecieron realizar mi primer taller de lettering. Por supuesto, mi primera respuesta fue un no rotundo. Pero ellos insistieron. Ellos vieron en mí algo que ni yo sabía que tenía. Y, aunque me demoré tres meses en que me convencieran, el haberme finalmente atrevido a enseñar algo que me apasionaba, a 14 desconocidas juntas, -aún con la voz temblorosa y habiendo tenido que practicar mil veces antes-, fue lo que detonó mi cambio. Y no, tampoco me puse roja.
Es cierto que el quererse no llega de un día para otro. No es que uno lea una frase de empoderamiento femenino y, mágicamente, empieces a mirarte diferente. Eso no existe. Todas tenemos nuestros propios procesos y, el mío, está recién comenzando. Pero lo que sí puedo decirte, es que siempre existe un algo, o un alguien que te ofrece el puntapié para generar el cambio. Una situación que se repite en tu vida, o una relación tóxica en la que has caído miles de veces hasta que, de pronto, decides no hacerlo. Cortar el ciclo. De miedo, de inseguridad, de
negatividad, da igual el nombre que le pongas.
Yo no me sentía capaz de nada de lo que he logrado hasta ahora. Y te lo digo de corazón, tenía las ganas, pero sentía que me faltaban los cojones. Eso hasta que, un día, muerta de susto, decidí probarme a mí misma a ver si los tenía escondidos por ahí. Y claro, ahí estaban. Y eran enormes.
La vida te pone obstáculos constantes, y es cuando decides hacer algo diferente a lo que has hecho siempre, cuando se enciende el motor. No importa si no sabes hacia dónde vas o qué quieres, tampoco si es un acto apenas perceptible para el resto, sólo tiene que serlo para ti. Es la decisión consciente de hacer algo distinto. Si no pruebas, no podrás ir nunca descartando. Y si no descartas, ¿cómo quieres conocerte?
